Fees and payment when importing products of non-animal origin

Importers of products of non-animal origin pay a fee for border control. This page describes how the fee is calculated and how to pay it.

Fees for border controls and sampling

If only a documentary check is required, the fee is SEK 750 per consignment.

If the consignment is selected for sampling, the fee is SEK 1,150, plus the costs for sampling and analysis. The fee is increased if control takes place outside of normal operating hours, or at another place than the border control post.

Other costs

Other costs may be added in connection with the control. Examples of these are costs for

  • measurement of suspected fumigated (gassed) goods
  • unloading of container/trailer to access the consignment
  • for consignments subject to specfic controls under Articles 65–67 of Regulation (EU) 2017/625, a fee of SEK 800 per hour is charged.

Payment procedures

The border control fee is invoiced to the company's paying agent retrospectively. The paying agent is the person who pre-notifies a consignment for border control, i.e. the operator responsible for the consignment. The payment term is 30 days.
