Comparison of Alternative One-Step RTPCR Kits for ISO 15216 Applications

The international standard ISO 15216 provides a framework for the detection of norovirus (genogroups GI and GII) and HAV in food using molecular methods. Currently, RNA UltraSense™ One-Step Quantitative RT-PCR System (Thermo Fisher) is widely applied as a one-step RT-PCR kit in this context, since it was used during the validation of ISO 15216 - Part 1.2 However, its relatively high cost has motivated an evaluation of alternative commercial kits that may offer comparable or improved performance at a lower price.
