Coronavirus pandemic - questions and answers

The coronavirus spreads mainly from person-to-person, or through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Consumption of food or water is not thought to be a way the virus spreads. 

Studies of previous outbreaks of similar coronaviruses show that this type of virus is transmitted from person to person and not through surfaces, such as food or food packaging.

As always, when handling or preparing food, your hands need to be clean. Washing your hands with soap and water is the best defense against spreading viruses causing stomach flu. Washing your hands regularly with soap and water is also effective against the spread of coronavirus.
